We understand that saying your final farewell to your beloved scaly mate is as important to you as a dog is to a dog owner. Reptile cremation and memorials are becoming more and more popular as time goes on.
We’ve paid tributes to many reptile pets including lizards, snakes, geckos, chameleons, dragons, iguanas, tortoise and more.
Any pet, no matter of size or species, holds their own special place in our hearts and all deserve the same caring tribute.
When we lose our beloved pet, it can be heart-breaking but there are many ways to commemorate your pet’s life and friendship, and we have outlined these below.
Our Pet Remembrance Book
Our online remembrance book is a great way to publicly pay tribute with a warming message for everyone to see. Click here to add your own message alongside the many other remembrances on our website.
Reptile Pet Cremation
At PCS we offer two forms of cremation for your reptile or exotic pet.
Individual cremations ensure that your scaly mate is cremated singularly within a clean and private chamber. With the individual cremation, you are guaranteed that the ashes you receive, or those placed into our memorial garden, will be only the ashes of your beloved pet.
A communal cremation is the chosen choice for many pet owners. This means that your pet will be cremated with a small group of others, as there is no separation of pets in this process you will not receive any ashes back from a communal cremation. Perhaps for many, the communal cremation gives a sense of togetherness, to be alongside other beloved pets on their final journey.
Both cremations are carried out with the utmost respect and care, and there is no right or wrong choice.
Reptile Pet Memorials
Occasionally, pet owners opt for memorial over cremation. This is a decision that is unique to the individual pet owner.
We have a number of ways to memorialise your pet, please take a look through the shop and services section of our website for more information.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is often difficult to process information at a time of grief. Here at PCS, we provide clear, expert advice about the cremation options available so please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss any of our pet cremation and memorial services.
Here are some frequently asked questions about reptile and exotic pet cremation and memorial:
Q: What animals are classed as scaly mates?
A: Lizards, snakes, geckos, chameleons, dragons, iguanas, tortoises, turtles and any other pets that aren’t cats, dogs, feathered or furry. 'Cold-blooded' doesn't really do justice to the companionship these pets give us!
Q: How does reptile/exotic pet cremation or memorial work?
A: These pet cremation and memorial services follow the same process as that of a cat or dog. Please see our Cremation Services section for more information about the services we offer.
Q: Can I cremate or bury my goldfish (or similar size pet)?
A: We can advise on the minimum size of pet that can be cremated as in many cases, the owner would like to keep the ashes. Some pets may be too small for any remains to be gathered so please contact us about very small pets.
