I contacted PCS Newbury to have my hamster Luna individually cremated after she sadly passed away at the end of March this year. It took me a couple of tries to get through on the phone, but once I did, I was able to make an appointment to take Luna in as soon as possible. I had already purchased a photo frame urn from elsewhere, so they talked me through the best and most cost effective options for scatter tubes they could provide me with to bring the ashes home in. However, they do have a variety of beautiful urns and caskets to choose from if you want to purchase one direct.
The building itself can be tricky to find - maps took me down the wrong turning initially. Once you know where to go, it’s very easy to get there. When you first take your fur baby in, you’re able to have a final goodbye in a private room and you can write a message in the farewell book, which I thought was a lovely touch.
The staff were very welcoming, respectful and compassionate, answering any and all questions I had. I felt happy knowing that Luna would be taken care of during her final journey. I got the call that she was ready for collection within a week, and was delighted that they’d managed to get her paw prints done for me! I had requested that they try, but understood if it wouldn’t be possible. They truly went above and beyond to fulfil that request, and they even gave me multiple copies to be able to take to my tattoo artist.
I cannot fault the overall service at all, despite wishing I never had to use it in the first place.
A massive thankyou to PCS Newbury for helping to make a difficult and heartbreaking situation just a little bit easier, knowing that my Luna was respected and handled with care until the very end.
Gill and her team been fantabulous have Toby lovely send off he deserved I thank you for bottom of my heart
I wanted to say thank you to Jackie at Newbury (not her normal workplace i think) for a speedy and great service for our little dachshund Buddy on Monday this week. We had a really bad experience with another facility in Wiltshire but were more than happy with the way she dealt with us at a very difficult time. thank you, Phil & Nicola
I rang yesterday and spoke to Simon as I was getting distressed about our dog Harry. He explained Harry had arrived with them and how handled with dignity & care and also that Harry's favourite toy and card from us were with him when cremated, I felt much calmer and more at peace so thank you.
My golden boy Prince crossed the rainbow bridge and was cremated with PCS Newbury, I'll never be able to thank them enough for taking such great care of him and putting all of our minds at ease during this very difficult time. They were all extremely polite, respectful and personable, their customer service was also amazing. They let our family visit him before the cremation and even let us give him his favourite toy which they allowed to be cremated with him. Thankyou so much.
I opened my practice, Carterton Veterinary Surgery in Oxon, in 2014 and chose PCS as cremation partner. Various members of staff have visited the crematorium in Newbury and we are confident that procedures are followed at all times. I have personally taken part in one of PCS’ bereavement courses offered to us in order to raise awareness for end of life and bereavement training. The practice has gone from strength to strength and PCS have been supportive every step of the way.
Having worked with PCS for many years in one of my practices, we decided to swap our second surgery over to them as we felt that our pet owners would benefit from this change and my nurses have always been very complimentary about PCS with many having visited the crematorium. The PCS representative provided a detailed and informative staff training offering excellent support with sympathetic brochures, leaflets, etc. We also decided to undergo professional end of life training, recommended by PCS, for all practice staff to maximise the support we can provide to our customers at this difficult time, an area often overlooked within a practice.
